Ford Mustang Mach-E
charging guide

The Mach-E was the first non-Tesla to get Supercharger access. It still uses CCS1 with an adapter, and Ford's next model year is expected to adopt a native NACS port.

Charging at home

A 48-amp circuit delivers 11.5 kW and about 34 miles per hour. The extended-range battery is large enough that 48 amps is genuinely useful, especially in winter.

Model-year note: this guide covers both port generations. If your car has the newer NACS port, a J1772 home charger needs a J1772-to-NACS adapter; a native NACS charger is the cleaner choice.
Recommended circuit: 48 A at 240 V for the full 11.5 kW. A 32 A circuit is the practical minimum; anything above the car's onboard limit buys no speed.

How long does it take?

These estimates assume a 10–90% charge, 240 V AC and 90% efficiency. Cold weather, a cold battery or a shared circuit will slow things down.

40 A9.6 kW29 mi/hr8h 26m
48 A11.5 kW34 mi/hr7h 2m

Estimates use the car's 11.5 kW onboard charger. If your trim has a smaller unit, the 32 A row is the practical ceiling. Want your own numbers? Use the charging time calculator.

Can you use a Tesla Supercharger?

Ford has Supercharger access. 2021–2025 cars need Ford's NACS-to-CCS1 adapter; Ford's next model year is expected to move to a native NACS port. Peak DC power is around 150 kW, so stops are longer than on an 800-volt Hyundai.

What this car is best for

Best for drivers who want a fun-to-drive crossover and proven Supercharger access.

Watch out: DC fast charging peaks near 150 kW, well below the 250 kW class. Do not expect Ioniq 5-style stops.

Frequently asked questions

Can a Mach-E use Tesla Superchargers?+

Yes. Ford was the first automaker to get access. 2021–2025 cars need Ford's official NACS adapter; Ford's next model year is expected to have a NACS port and need no adapter.

What home charger should I buy for a Mach-E?+

A 48-amp J1772 charger such as the Emporia or Wallbox Pulsar Plus gives the full 11.5 kW. A 40-amp unit is a good compromise if your panel is limited.
